Morte sospetta di una minorenne, Sergio Martino's last 1970's giallo, is a fairly interesting police procedural/giallo hybrid, but it contains some comic elements that I don't think sit very well with the rest of the film. It took me a few years before I managed to get my hands on a copy with English subs, but it's now available on a great looking DVD from Sazuma. Great poster art by Ciriello.
I'll end the week with one of my favourite posters, the locandina for Sergio Martino's Il Tuo vizio è una stanza chiusa e solo io ne ho la chiave. A great film and a fantastic title. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out who id the artwork, but it looks like he might possibly have found some inspiration in Edvard Munch's The Scream.
Unlike Sergio Martino's previous gialli (which were produced by his brother Luciano) I Corpi presentano tracce di violenza carnale was produced by Carlo Ponti. I'm not sure if that's one of the reasons that it's got a slightly different feel to Martino's previous films, but it's nevertheless a great film. You've all seen the fantastic looking sequence when the killer is stalking one of his victims in the woods and the very suspenseful later half with Suzy Kendall locked in a house with the killer.
It's one of the gialli with the most numer of editions available on DVD, but sadly none of the are perfect. Apparently the NoShame had a one in the works as well, but since they seem to have closed their doors, it looks like a definitive version is unlikely to surface anytime soon.
And like all the other posts this week, I haven't been able to find any info on the poster design.
I used to live in London, so I guess it's not that suprising that I've got a soft spot for gialli set there. There's plenty to like about Tutti i colori del buio though. Sergio martino rarely let's you down in the first place, but he's in great form here. An all-star gialli cast, some great dream sequences, cool London locations and a fantastic Nicolai soundtrack. This remains one of my favourites.

Both by E. Sciotti. The top one is my favourite of the two. On the bottom one it looks like Sciotti decided to recycle some of his ideas from The House by the Cemetery poster he did the year before.
Since I've been slacking a bit this week, I thought I'd make up for it by posting the two great looking alternate posters for Sergio Martino's Lo Strano vizio della Signora Wardh.
The first of the four (!) gialli Martino directed between 1971 and 1972. They were all produced by his brother Luciano Martino and featured screenplays by Ernesto Gastaldi. This excellent thriller starred the lovely Edwige Fenech, George Hilton, Ivan Rassomiv and Alberto de Mendoza. All of which would appear in different constellations in several of Martino's later films.
The top poster is made by G.Nistri and features a kaleidoscope view of Hilton that brings back memories of one of the films effective nightmare sequences. The beautiful poster below is from a re-release of the film in 1978. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any info on who did the art-work.
Sergio Martino's La Coda dello scorpione has more or less everything you want from a good giallo. Clever twists and turns, the always dependable George Hilton, gorgeous women (Swedish stunner Anita Strindberg and the beautiful Evelyn Stewart), a killer with black gloves, a good Nicolai score and liberal J&B product placement. A favourite of mine ever since I first saw it.
Generally the posters design for Martino's gialli are quite striking, but it's hard to get too excited about this locandina.
