Le Calde labbra del carnifice (The Killer wore Gloves)

This Italian/Spanish co-production directed by Juan Bosch is a good, but rarely discussed giallo. The film is not without flaws though. There are a few too obvious red herrings and a few too many false scares and there is a part of the final chase scene where it’s painfully obvious that it’s wasn't shot in England. Regardless of these minor complaints, I find it an entertaining effort. Pretty cool poster as well.

Un posto ideale per uccidere (Dirty Pictures)

In a recent (very interesting) interview posted at Cultfilms en Kutfilms Umberto Lenzi states that he dislikes Un posto ideale per uccidere and has some pretty harsh things to say about it. I was a bit surprised to hear this, because even though it's perhaps not up there with his greatest Baker gialli, I still find it a quite enjoyable thriller. Poster by Angelo Cesselon.

Tutti i colori del buio (All the Colors of the Dark)

I used to live in London, so I guess it's not that suprising that I've got a soft spot for gialli set there. There's plenty to like about Tutti i colori del buio though. Sergio martino rarely let's you down in the first place, but he's in great form here. An all-star gialli cast, some great dream sequences, cool London locations and a fantastic Nicolai soundtrack. This remains one of my favourites.

Sorry about the lack of updates recently. I've been swamped at work lately, but things are looking a bit better at the moment. I've got plenty more locandina to be posted, so I hope I'll be able to resume regular posting from now on.

Mio caro assassino (My Dear Killer)

Tonino Valerii is most well-known for his work in the Western genre. Unfortunately Mio caro Assassino is the only giallo he directed, but it's a very good one. The film features a great Morricone soundtrack reminiscent of the work he did for Argento's animal trilogy. At the moment there are only seven tracks available on a double feature CD from CAM, but hopefully Digitmovies will rectify this sometime in the future. Locandina features art-work by the great Renato Casaro.

La morte accarezza a mezzanotte (Death Walks at Midnight)

Another great Luciano Ercoli giallo starring the delectable Susan Scott. This one features a fantastic soundtrack by Gianni Ferrio, who with the great scores for Una Farfalla Con Le Ali Insanguinate, La Morte Risale A Ieri Sera, L'Uomo Senza Memoria and this rate as one of my favourite giallo composers.

There is a second locandina available for this that I unfortunately haven't been able to get my hands on yet, but hopefully I'll be able to post it here sometime in the future.

La Volpe dalla coda di velluto (In the Eye of the Hurricane)

José María Forqué's La Volpe dalla coda di velluto is clearly influenced by Umberto Lenzi's successful Jean Sorel and Carroll Baker thrillers, but it's a very entertaining thriller in its own right. With its great cast, beautiful Côte D'Azur locations and the fantastic soundtrack by Piccioni, it remains one of the more overlooked genre entries.
I was very happy to find Mos's beautiful looking locandina in such good condition, since I haven't seen it for sale very often.

L'Etrusco uccide ancora (The Etruscan Kills Again/The Dead are Alive)

I recently managed to get my hands on a great fancomposite of Crispino's 1972 giallo. I'd only seen the the poor looking Eurovista dvd before and this beautiful fandub really changed my perception of the film. I still prefer Autopsy but L'Etrusco uccide ancora is a above average giallo with some stand-out sequences. Poster art isn't great though.
